Sidewalk Talk

A young couple sits outside at a cafe.

We walk past just as the woman says to her boyfriend, "She looks like a pug! I'm not being mean - she really does look like a pug!"

I picture little shining black eyes set into a flat, scrunched-up face that looks like it's been stepped on and a pink tongue that hangs out, with an overall dopey expression. I wonder if I will ever see the human equivalent.
