Two pipelines that run through Louisiana and Mississippi and provide gas to Georgia are out of commission due to Katrina. I called my friend Marco, who was out driving after work. He's seen prices for unleaded between $2.89 to $3.99 per gallon, with lines of cars spilling out into traffic.

Well...unleaded here in Germany is currently up to 1,42. Euro. Per litre. And then came K. And there is reason to believe that all of us aren't at the worst yet.
Interestingly, it is the speculators who are having an ugly impact on the market right now. They're probably all avid mountainbikers.
