Let Angels Possess You

Crowded House, their first album

This is the cover of Crowded House's first album, simply called Crowded House. I've been reading list emails and board messages. Thank goodness there's a place for fans to talk to each other; it's probably pretty strange from the outside, mourning someone you didn't actually know. A friend of mine even sent me a news link, knowing I was a fan. The power of music to bring us together, I guess.

Addendum: I should clarify. Paul happens to be the one with the wings. Nick Seymour is there to the left and Neil Finn is on the right.

Sucks. His antics in all the CH videos would have me believe he was a rather upbeat person... RIP Paul... you will be missed.

It's said that the song "Black and White Boy" was about Paul. From what I've read, he could be really, really up, and then swing to the opposite end of the spectrum.

I remember reading somewhere when he left the band in 1994 that Kurt Cobain's suicide really threw him, that he worried that could happen to him. If only he could have seen how much life held for him, how much he was loved - by his family and friends, and those of us who only knew his gifts as a performer. It's so sad.

That's very interesting Lady C. Woke up today... still bummed by this. Like you mentioned... it's funny how the passing of someone you do not know can be so profound. I feel silly in a way about it, but their music really did a lot for me growing up. So, maybe it's not. All I know is, it is hard losing a hero to themselves.

Granted, Neil's never actually admitted it, so it's just speculation on the part of fans as to the song being about Paul.

You can't help feeling what you feel. What you feel is different from what you think you should or shouldn't be feeling. So don't feel silly. Their music has been part of my life soundtrack for the last dozen years, through really great times and really dark ones and all the rest in between. And if we feel like this, we can only imagine what his family and friends must feel.

Thanks for sharing your comments.
