Andre Norton

Science fiction author Andre Norton dies

I've only read a few of her novels, but I liked them very much. (I have an irrational hangup of committing to a whole universe of novels, never mind that I already do this with certain authors.) I didn't know she'd been a librarian, too.

One of my favorite authors. She will be missed.

This was the author who introduced me to science fiction and fantasy (thanks to a kindly uncle who literally threw books on my desk and whined and begged until I read Octagon Magic and Lavender Green Magic). I'm so grateful she wrote a few children's books here and there - she hooked me early and I went back for more adult fare as I grew up. I never could commit to the gigantic Witch World universe though, I didn't even try a single book in the series.
