The Clean and the Dirty

On the one hand, it's great that my new host does free installations of blog software for you.

On the other, it was a few sweaty moments before I figured out where I needed to set up my Import folder. Hint: IN the MT directory.

Right now I'll just leave up the basic template until I figure out how to reestablish my other features.

It's not perfect. The cosmetics are okay, though ultimately I'm still planning an overhaul. Currently I'm trying to figure out how to restore my archives so all the permalinks out there on the web match up to what's here on the site.

Anyone have a suggestion? MT creates a folder called "archives" which houses the archived posts. What I want is for MT to update a folder called "mt-archives." Where do I go to change that?

Under "Manage Weblog" and "Core Setup" there's a field that says "Enter the path where your archive files will be located." If you're on the same server as me, the path will look something like this:

/home/[login]/public_html/archives

where "login" is probably something like "ladycrumpet" or whatever you use to login, and you can change "archives" to "mt-archives."

This wasn't the most organized host transfer in the history of the world. I really should have put the word out sooner. But thanks for coming back to check on me!

Thanks, LTR - once I realized where I needed to make that fix, I had the decency to feel a little silly. Chagrined, even.
