Ok, ok, I give up. I find myself far more annoyed by fake or intentionally incorrect email addresses intended to subvert the info requirement of my Comments section, than having anonymous, unaccountable comments. So I'm going to open up the comments once more to allow my vast world audience their say, so long as there is thoughtful or entertaining discourse.
But honestly, is it too much to ask for the civility of your leaving at least a name?

I hear you. There are idiots out there, and their number is larger than anyone of us wished it was.
I personally add to my peeve list those who come and fork a blog upside down and back again, and cannot even leave a blogboard message saying "Hi there!".
My theory about the fakers is that they're of the kind who would not have the guts to protest in the real world, hence the internet and its chance to remain somewhere in the muddy corner seems too tempting. It's so comfortable to give a show not having to look people in the eye. The German term for those people is "armes Wuerstchen".
So, do not give up, but also, do not stress out about these dorks. Ban their IPs from MT and install spam filters.

Thanks mlle. a. I'm not so much stressed as disappointed - some of these people are people I know. I suppose I could always fret about the lack of comments - does that mean people disagree, do they think I'm an idiot, do they not care, &c? But that wouldn't be productive either.
Anyway, I am more concerned with spam issues, and it seems that the comment configuration doesn't work on that front. I've installed MT-Blacklist, which seems to be working pretty well. Not that I've ever gotten a lot, but even one is bad enough.

i confess. i purposely mistyped my email address. i didn't know it was aggrivating you, plus i just thought it witty to type earthling instead of earthlink.

Eh, don't sweat it. I was overthinking this whole thing, and anyway, you always signed your name, so no big deal.
