Hawking Miss Austen

The Sally Lunn Tearoom in Bath now offers blends of teas and coffees that were supposed to be popular in Jane Austen's time. The proprietor has patented this line of beverages, using the Austen name. Naturally, a tempest is brewing in teacups all over England. [via Austen-tatious]

I have to agree with Professor Butler on this one. Since they did some research (although the dependability of the research is impossible to determine from the article), why get all upset about it? They are hardly the only business in Bath, or in England, or in the world exploiting Jane's name for profit.

I understand from my Rick Steves guide (though I've never been there, much to my dismay) that Sally Lunn's place is sort of a tourist trap anyway.

i agree with the High Priestess, they did research and work enough to say they want to own the results.
