Hawk attacks Chihuahua in Bryant Park

One of the hawks that patrols Bryant Park attacked someone's dog yesterday. Can you really blame the bird for thinking the dog was a rat? Now there's talk of scrapping the program, which means people will only start complaining about the pigeons again. Sheesh.

a fish gotta swim
a bird gotta fly
and a girl (err, hawk) gotta eat.

really. if you know there are hawks in the area, why would you bring your chihuahua to get attacked? or rather, why would you own a chihuahua? i've never met one i liked.

hearding and sporting breeds are my favs. specifically smooth collies (huge bias there) and irish setters!

...and I thought Chihuahuas were a deluxe-o breed of rats? A twist of rat here, a hint of cavy there...voila!

this was mentioned on npr's wait wait don't tell me today. apparently, the attacker has been retired and is not working in bryant park anymore. so i want to know if i mistake my boss for a rat or a pigeon, can i retire too?

If falconers were required to own at least one Chihuahua things like this wouldn't happen.

Oh wee Chihuahau
Thou shouldn't'st take flight
In the raptorous talons of a hawks delight
Thou aren't a rodent
Or Something to bite
Yap along little doggie
